3D Endovascular repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Animation Video
The Aorta, the largest artery in the body, branches from the left ventricle of the heart and descends through the chest into the abdomen delivering oxygen rich blood to the body. An aortic aneurysm is a weakening of the artery wall in the aorta causing the artery wall to bulge out like a balloon. Aneurysms can occur anywhere along the aorta but 75% of aortic aneurysms occur in the abdominal region. These are referred to as abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Endovascular graft repair is a minimally invasive non-surgical medical procedure to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms. Endovascular graft repair involves inserting a catheter into the groin area and advancing it to the site of the aneurysm to place a stent-graft, thus creating a new blood channel effectively reducing pressure on the aneurysm and reducing the risk of rupture.

Your Practice Online's 3D video of Endovascular repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm educates patients through the use of text, voice, images, and 3D animation. Patients are instructed on normal heart anatomy, symptoms and risk factors of AAA, as well as the medical tests used to diagnose the disease. Management of AAA is discussed including lifestyle changes, medications, and the minimally invasive procedure, endovascular repair. Patients learn what to expect during endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm through viewing a 3D animation of the procedure. After care and risks and complications are also discussed to ensure the patient is able to make an informed decision.
